Suarez should have seen red against Spurs - Rooney

Manchester: Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney believes Liverpool's Luis Suarez should have been sent off against Tottenham at Anfield on Monday night.

The Uruguay international, who made his return from suspension as a substitute in the 0-0 draw, received a yellow card for a kick on Scott Parker in the second half.

But Rooney says the striker should have been given his marching orders by referee Michael Oliver if he had seen the incident, and also defended his own disciplinary record this season.

"If ref sees that kick from suarez and books him for it it should be red," he wrote on Twitter. "For everyone saying about my aggression i aint had 1 yellow card in premier league this season."

Rooney then responded to a Liverpool fan mocking him over United's recent FA Cup loss at Anfield by saying, "how u been doing in the league last 20 years kid."

As well as the United striker, former defender Gary Neville, working as a pundit for Sky Sports, felt Suarez should have seen red for the kick.

However, Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish responded to the duo in his post-match press conference, telling reporters, "Why don't you tweet Wayne back? I don't have a view on what they've tweeted, especially when I've not seen it. If Gary Neville or Wayne were standing there and asked me the question I could answer them but I don't think you can speak for them. I think I'll just plead the fifth amendment."
